Hennepin Technical College Graphic Design Students
Create Website for A-List Youth Organization
March 13, 2010
BROOKLYN PARK, MINN. – A group of students in the Graphic Design program at Hennepin Technical College’s Brooklyn Park campus have been volunteering their time and creative skills to design a web site for the A-List, an organization for youth in Brooklyn Park. The web site (thealistyouth.org) will highlight the organization’s mission of providing a platform for all youth to achieve their dreams in the fields of entrepreneurship, education and personal growth by serving as a link between youth, businesses and colleges. The A-List offers a safe environment for youth to find employment, do homework or just hang out with friends. The organization also plans to host talent shows for aspiring performers.
“The HTC students have been really dedicated to this project,” said Linda Valentine, HTC Graphic Design instructor. “It’s strictly on a volunteer basis, so they don’t earn college credit, but it’s great experience for them and a nice piece to add to their portfolio.” Valentine especially appreciated the leadership roles of Michelle Heil, web designer; Nate Geier, Flash designer; Christie Calin, print media lead, and Andrew Heimbuch, photographer. In addition to the web site, the HTC students will also be designing brochures, posters and other printed materials for the A-List.
